2022 Greenwood Reflection Garden Ribbon Cutting
The Gibbs Shopping Center holds deep significance for the Greenwood Reflection Garden because it was once owned by Ernestine Gibbs, a survivor of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. The garden itself was created by descendants of a Tulsa Race Massacre survivor and is located on the east side of the Gibbs Shopping Center. The garden seeks to honor and remember the survivors who shared their stories and paved the way for awareness, hope, and peace. It features a mural depicting survivors and QR codes that link to their interviews. The goal of the garden is to provide a space for reflection, learning, and conversation, ensuring the tragic history and the resilience of the community are remembered.
